Life-Long
Return

WHAT IS LIFE-LONG RETURN?

Positioning: prestige historical feature / controlled epic
Estimated production budget: approx. $15M.

Life-Long Return is an international historical drama inspired by real events — a controlled epic with a strong aviation thread. It follows a Lithuanian boy whose life is violently disrupted by deportation and separation from his father, but whose great dream — to become a pilot and rise high above the world around him — gives him resilience, direction and a sense of possibility. That dream carries him through Siberia, Chukotka and Alaska to America, where he builds a new life, family and career. Decades later, the long arc of that journey leads him toward a final discovery about his past, his identity and the meaning of home. Professional readers have described the screenplay as a fresh take on the historical epic, with comparisons to established international films in the genre.*

WHY I'M MAKING THIS FILM

I have called Life-Long Return the project of my life. The story is inspired by real events and is connected to the Lithuanian branch of my own family, whose history was shaped by deportation and its consequences across generations.

But what inspires me most is not the trauma itself. It is the idea that a great dream can help a person survive brutal circumstances, keep moving, and eventually find a way toward freedom, identity, love — and home.

A STORY THAT DOESN’T EXPIRE

There will always be an audience for stories about people forced to leave home — by war, political upheaval, changing regimes, climate events, disaster or family separation. But Life-Long Return offers more than displacement: it follows a man who carries an almost impossible dream through brutal circumstances and eventually turns that dream into a life. Audiences do not need to believe they could repeat his path; they need to believe that such a path is possible. That combination — displacement, resilience and the pursuit of a dream larger than circumstance — gives the story lasting relevance across countries, generations and changing historical contexts.
